# Agents quickstart

> Run a small, verifiable workflow test without assuming connections or approvals are already configured.

## Before you start

You need access to the merchant workspace, `agents:view`, an available workflow, and a small test case you are permitted to use. Changing configuration also requires `agents:manage`. Do not use live customer sends or irreversible changes as a first test.

### 1. Choose a workflow

Open **Agents** (or **Agents → Workflows** where the tabbed interface is available) and inspect what is available. Start with [Intake](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/workflows/intake.md), [Quoting](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/workflows/quoting.md), or [Order Status](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/workflows/order-status.md). Do not assume all three are enabled.

### 2. Check the inputs

Identify the source of truth, the exact request or record identifiers, and the revision or update time. Follow [Data sources](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/data-sources.md). An uploaded file alone does not establish successful extraction, indexing, or suitability for an answer.

### 3. Check the connection

If the task depends on an external channel, confirm the correct account and permissions using its [integration guide](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/integrations.md). A vendor tile or help link is not proof of a working connection. Never paste credentials into a prompt or document.

### 4. Check the proposed work

Make the desired result explicit. Review which [actions](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/actions.md) the workflow is configured to perform and which require [approval](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/approvals.md). Keep drafting and sending separate.

### 5. Review the result

Compare the result with the source record. Check identity, recipients, material or order references, quantities, units, and dates. If the run is pending review, it is not complete. Follow the supported review path rather than repeating the action.

### 6. Record what you learned

Keep a traceable correction when the output is wrong. [Results and evaluations](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/results.md) explains how that can become evaluation evidence or a candidate lesson. A test or an approved lesson does not automatically change live behavior.

## If you cannot proceed

If no workflow is available, access is denied, evidence is missing, or the connection is not ready, stop at that point. Check [troubleshooting](https://docs.plastics.com/agents/troubleshooting.md) and ask the responsible owner to resolve the prerequisite. Do not create a second connection or repeat a send to get past an unclear state.
