Most block themes have no template area where you can paste a raw <script> tag. The WordPress plugin solves that: it is a thin loader with no widget logic of its own. It enqueues the same hosted script documented in Setup, so widget behavior still updates centrally and the plugin itself never needs a release to pick up a change.

Get it running

1

Download your plugin

From Integrations, in the Admin section, on the Website Embed tile, click Deploy, then switch to the WordPress tab and click Download plugin. The zip is generated for your account at the moment you click download, not a generic file shared across every organization. It bundles your current domain, panel position, and auto-open setting from the Set up step directly into the plugin, so the assistant works immediately on activation with no settings to fill in first.
Those three values are baked in at download time only. If you change the domain, position, or auto-open toggle in the embed admin afterward, the plugin does not pick up the change automatically — download a fresh copy, or update the domain and position by hand in the plugin’s own settings page (see Settings).

Done

Because the domain and position are already baked in, the assistant appears on your site as soon as the plugin is active — there is no separate configuration step required.

Settings

Go to Settings → Herman Widget to see or change the two values the plugin controls: Saving here overrides the value baked in at download time. The auto-open setting is not exposed on this page — it can only be changed by downloading the plugin again with a different toggle state in the embed admin.

Removing it

Deactivating the plugin stops the widget from loading on your site. Deleting it through the WordPress admin also removes the domain and position settings it stored, leaving nothing behind.

Compatibility

The plugin has been tested on WordPress 7.1. It uses WordPress’s standard script enqueue and settings APIs rather than any theme-specific hooks, so it is expected to work on both block and classic themes. If your site runs an aggressive caching or JavaScript-optimization plugin, do a full cache clear after installing and confirm the pill button still appears — the plugin adds a data-position attribute to its script tag that such tools should preserve, but this has not been verified against every caching plugin.

Security and data

Installing the plugin does not change what the widget can access or what it collects. It loads the identical hosted script over the identical allowlisted endpoint described in Security and data; the plugin itself only adds a capability-gated (manage_options) settings page in WordPress admin, and sanitizes the domain and position before saving them.
